TOPSHAM — Lee Gagne, Owner of Lee’s Tire and Service, will be inducted into the Maine Babe Ruth Hall of Fame for his coaching and sponsorship of the Topsham and Ararat Babe Ruth program for 47 years.

He was presented his plaque this past week by District 2 Commissioner and Ararat Babe Ruth President Scott Ford.

Gagne was involved in bringing Babe Ruth Baseball to the town of Topsham in 1970. He helped get funding and helped build the first baseball field at the Topsham Fairgrounds.

After coaching his sons for seven years, he has been a main sponsor for Babe Ruth Baseball for the Ararat Babe Ruth League.

Because of his generosity, boys and girls have a chance to play Babe Ruth baseball in the local area.
