CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Allen James White Sr., “Whitey”, 93, of Cape Coral Fla. passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 at Cape Coral Hospital.

Allen was a loving husband to his wife Sandra for 52 years. Allen was born Dec. 26, 1926 in Topsham.

He was preceded in his death by his father, Ralph White, mother, Eva Allen; and siblings, Russell, Ralph, Eva and Anna.

Allen is survived by his wife; sister, Madeline Violette; children, Bonnie Gruber, Deborah Couture, Allen White Jr., James White, Matthew White; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren (five generations); several nieces and nephews of which knew him by “Pops”, “Poopsie” and “Uncle Whitey”. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and best friend to “Cappy Mike” and he will be sadly missed by all.

Allen received an associate degree from Husson College in Maine where he starred in baseball. Allen joined the United States Naval Reserve in 1944 and served until 1952. During World War II, he served in the pacific as Radarman, Third Class, USNR and participated in the battle of Okinawa. He was called back to active duty during the Korean War.

Allen worked in financing as manager of Seaboard Finance Company in Augusta. He then worked for Maine Drilling and Blasting as blasting foreman from 1968 to 1988.

Allen loved competitive sports, casinos, traveling, visiting family and friends, seeing friends at the coffee shop and life in general.

Allen’s remains will rest in Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
