Register for parade

Churches, community groups, businesses, school groups sports clubs and individual residents in Gorham can still register to take part in the Memorial Day Parade on May 29.

The parade will form at 10 a.m. on Lincoln Street and roll out at 11 a.m. from the Village Elementary School on Robie Street and end at Eastern Cemetery on Johnson Road for a ceremony.

Last call for brush drop off

Public Works will accept brush from Gorham residents from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20, at 80 Huston Road.

The drop-off is for residents only. Commercial loads and stumps will not be accepted. Leaves and grass clippings will be accepted throughout the year.

The American Journal reported on May 23, 1973, that David and Rose Irving of Standish Road were honored with a surprise party on their 35th wedding anniversary. They were married May 14, 1938, at the White Rock Baptist Church.
