Cheryl A. Smith

TOPSHAM – Cheryl A. Smith, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on April 24, 2026. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. 

Cheryl earned her GED before working as a CNA, supporting the elderly, and later worked in childcare, where she cherished her time at Building Blocks Daycare. She loved children and found great joy in caring for babies. She went on to work at Hannaford in Topsham as a cashier for several years and adored her customers and co-workers. Cheryl was happiest when helping others, especially her family.

She enjoyed Southern Gospel music, dancing, and her favorite quartet, Ernie Haas and the Signature Sound.

She is survived by her children, Mary, Pete, Andy and his wife, Lisa; her loving husband of 35 years, David Smith Sr., and his children, Karrie, David Jr., and Elysha. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was one of six children of Joan Fitzherbert and is survived by her siblings John, David, Barbara, and Margaret.

She was predeceased by her sister, Mary.

A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
