The owner of Vessel & Vine in Brunswick recently launched a grocery and prepared foods store in the former Repelnova Farm Store in Durham.
Called Full Hearts Farm Store, the new grocery features Maine-made groceries, baked goods, beverages and prepared meals, according to owner Nikaline Iacono. “It’s really intended to be a community market for the town of Durham and for people that swing by,” she said.
Iacono, who lives in Durham, said she had talked over the years with Repelnova Farm owner Gary Goodrich about taking over the store space. The store is located on Route 136, a major corridor between Lewiston-Auburn and Portland.
“The amount of traffic is crazy and has always frustrated me as a resident, so now I get to finally capitalize on it and reap the benefits,” Iacono said.
Iacono said she’s using the store’s production kitchen to prepare packaged sandwiches, salads and entrees. The kitchen will also help her boost her grab-and-go selection at Vessel & Vine.
Full Hearts also sells organic produce from Repelnova Farm, and uses it in their prepared meals. Iacono said she plans eventually to offer cooking classes and farm dinners through the store, which has a covered back deck with tables overlooking the farm.
Full Hearts Farm Store is open Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
