A new Chick-fil-A location is currently under construction in the Maine Mall parking lot in South Portland.
The 1.25-acre parcel for the restaurant was carved out of surplus parking for Macy’s. This will be the second Chik-fil-A location in Greater Portland; the first opened in Westbrook’s Rock Row in 2021. A Chick-fil-A opened in Bangor in 2016.
Milan Nevajda, planning director for the city of South Portland, said Chick-fil-A representatives told city officials that construction could take close to a year.
“We do not yet have a opening date since its a little too early for that,” Nevajda said.
