I can’t tell you how disgusted I am by today’s headlines and the waste of space (June 6). We get headlines and a full page with the life stories of two people who have a beef against Graham Platner. He’s got a boatload of baggage, we know this. He’s exercised some questionable judgment in his past. Maybe one could doubt that he’s always lived up to his expressed values.
But Sen. Susan Collins has repeatedly shown us that her judgment and values stink. Her vote to confirm Justice Brett Kavanaugh — a man credibly accused of far worse than Platner’s been accused of — resulted in the end of Roe v. Wade and American women’s right to control their bodies and fates. Collins also voted to confirm Kristi Noem and refused to call for Noem’s ouster when Noem’s ICE agents fatally shot protesters.
Why don’t we get articles about Collins’ values and judgment? No, we get pages of utter trivia. The beef a former Heritage Foundation employee has with the New York Times; the “news” a former Platner campaign person was in foster care as a child. Who the freak cares?
