I am writing to say that I am very pleased that Graham Platner will be running for the U.S. Senate in Maine. I want him to win. I support what I believe he stands for: tax reform so that the wealthy pay their fair share, universal health care and taking big money out of our elections.
The big money in the elections bothers me a great deal. The Democrats are as guilty of this as the Republicans. If politicians take the big money to get elected, who are they really answering to? Despite charges to the contrary, our economy has been strong for a long time under both Democratic and Republican administrations. Even so, the cost of living for the average person gets higher and higher. The reason is that more and more of the money is just staying at the top. It needs to be better spread around.
The national government will likely go Democratic after the Trump era … for a while. If this government doesn’t embrace the bold changes promoted by Graham Platner, the rich will continue to get richer while the rest of us continue to get poorer.
Who will we choose for leaders then?
