The Westbrook American reported on July 2, 1958, that Mr. and Charles Gooding and daughter Mabel of Methodist Road, Westbrook, visited the World’s Fair in Brussels, Belgium. Roy Hicks, who had graduated Gorham High School, received a $100 award from Future Farmers of America for his achievements the past year.

The Cornelia Warren Outdoor Pool in Westbrook opened for the season Tuesday. Open swim is scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. now through Sept. 3. New this year, children 15 and under swim for free on Fridays.

Joanne Eldridge, guidance administrative assistant at Westbrook Middle School, retired at the end of this school year. Her name was misspelled in an article in last week’s American Journal.
