The Westbrook American reported on Sept. 11, 1957, that Westbrook had 2,452 students enrolled in schools, up 99 from the previous year. W. Bernard Stevens, 72, died in his barbershop at 492 Main St., Westbrook. He was the oldest barber in the city in terms of his more than 50 years of continuous service.
