Letter: Dog owners must take responsibility

Exercise is vital to our health and well-being. The same is true of our dogs. In this area, we are fortunate to have an abundance of natural regions that allow us to enjoy the landscape with our canine counterparts. We should all feel welcome to enjoy these areas, shouldn’t we? My four-legged companion is a […]

Letter: Need more 'diatribes' like McDonald-Smith's

Over the last few months of Julie McDonald-Smith’s tenure as a columnist, it seems that more than a few discerning readers have noticed how wrong her “right view” is. But don’t get me wrong, Julie. I applaud the editor’s choice of bringing your “visions” to the public’s scrutiny. So rather than “pile on” by suggesting […]

Letter: Reaction to the pledge is troubling

Much of the time, I am in agreement with Edgar Allen Beem’s opinions, but his latest on the Pledge of Allegiance (“Socialism and the Pledge of Allegiance”) has me troubled. Editorial: Falmouth is open for business (just ask the folks at Tidewater Farm)

The Falmouth Town Council made a mistake Monday when it unanimously approved zoning changes that would allow construction of a restaurant and sports pub off Clearwater Drive in Tidewater Village. It’s not that the business, Rivalries, doesn’t belong in Falmouth. It’s that it doesn’t belong on the lot chosen for the project. Although the proposal […]
