Firefighters combat Portland boat fire

A boat in dry dock caught fire and proved difficult to access, officials said.

Meteorologists cautioned against starting any fires Tuesday, with dry and breezy weather making conditions dangerous.

Investigators believe the incident Sunday was caused by a malfunctioning water heater, a Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson says.

Fire departments from nine towns outside Windham responded after a residential fire on Aroostook Drive.

No injuries were reported in the Tuesday morning fire on the Grand Beach Inn’s property, officials said.
