Kerry Jones of Scarborough has been awarded the Maine Principals’ Association Principal’s Award by Scarborough High School Principal Andrew Dolloff.

The award is given by each high school’s principal to the student who has demonstrated academic excellence and outstanding school citizenship, along with high accomplishment in the areas of community service and co-curricular activities.

Jones will be honored at the Maine Principals’ Association banquet April 2 in Bangor, and again at the high school’s Night of Excellence before graduation.

In a letter to Jones’s parents also sent to local media, Dolloff said his decision was a hard one. “I looked at our top academic students and considered their contributions to our school and their performances beyond the classroom over the span of their high school careers. This year we have many quality students at our school, making my decision difficult in the most enjoyable sense,” he wrote.
