The Project Linus “Make a Blanket Day” held at the Standish Kiwanis Club recently can only be described as a very successful day. One hundred blankets were turned over to Sue Kirk, Project Linus Coordinator for Central and Southern Maine for distribution to local children faced with crisis. Twenty volunteers were on hand from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. making blankets and new friends.
Volunteers represented Standish, Cornish, Wells, Scarborough, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Raymond, Windham, Westbrook and Gray. Standish Subway provided sandwich platters; Standish Hannaford and Windham Shaw’s provided refreshments and dessert. Blankets were dropped off throughout the day by volunteers not able to join the event. A raffle raised $120 for Project Linus, and door prizes and goodie bags were enjoyed by everyone.
