John Wallace, 58, Limington, disabled veteran

“I think the government should stop robbing Social Security and then there’d be enough for everyone. Look at all the people who die before they get a nickel. Where is that money going? They keep dipping into it because they can’t stand seeing that big pile of money just sitting there. They can’t keep their hands off it.”

Bobbie Jo Wallace, 25, Limington, homemaker

“I’m too young to think about retirement. I don’t want to think about retirement right now. I haven’t really even started life yet to start thinking about retirement.”

“I’m a rock star. I don’t retire. Rock stars don’t retire; they party ’til they die.”

Diane Porter, 40, Standish, McDonald’s employee

“I have no idea how I’ll handle it. I have 15 years before I retire and don’t have a clue. Hopefully, there will be something left in Social Security when I get there…I think the way it should work is like a savings account for each person. You should get interest back on what you put in.”

Brent Libby, 22, Standish, Standish Fire/EMS

“I have outside investments as far as mutual funds and Roth IRA, so I’m hoping they sustain me in my retirement.”

Susan Snow, 50, Gray, Sappi Fine Paper

“I have a 401K…I don’t believe Social Security will fold. I don’t believe it’s in crisis. I don’t think its problems are unsolvable.”
