Food pantry needs volunteers to help with move

The Westbrook Food Pantry is looking for volunteers to help with the pantry’s move from the Dana Warp Mill to the basement of the American Legion Hall on Dunn Street at the end of July

Jeanne Rielly, a volunteer at the food pantry, said the pantry would be moving on July 29 and 30, and volunteers are needed to help move food and equipment from the current space to the new space.

The pantry has been housed rent-free in the mill for the past two years, and Rielly said she appreciates the help that mill owner Tim Flannery has given the pantry. “Tim Flannery has been very generous to us,” she said.

With the food pantry’s two-year lease on the mill space ending this year, the food pantry has been searching for a new home for some time. Rielly said she was grateful the American Legion came forward and volunteered the space in their building.

“The American Legion has been very helpful to us,” she said.

The Westbrook Food Pantry will be open in their current space every Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., Rielly said. When the food pantry opens in its new space the first Tuesday in August, Rielly said it would be open the same hours.

Anyone interested in helping the Westbrook Food Pantry move to its new home should call Rielly at 797-8746.
