The Westbrook Star Laundry occupied this old building at 1 Carpenter St. for many years. The old Westbrook Police Station was also located on Carpenter Street across from this building. Carpenter Street was a narrow dead-end street that ran from Main Street opposite Bridge Street and was discontinued during Urban Renewal. The Star Laundry relocated to Eisenhower Drive, and this old building that once served as a livery stable was demolished as part of the Urban Renewal Project. The CVS parking lot presently occupies this site.
