North Gorham Library receives federal aid

U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe has announced that the North Gorham Public Library will receive $223 under a federal program for technology to help the library stay connected to the Internet.

The money is part of $25,625.51 earmarked for funding discounts to Maine schools and libraries under the “E-Rate” program, which is part of the 1996 Telecommunications Act.

“I am so pleased to announce this E-Rate funding because I firmly believe that access to advance technologies is a critical necessity for students,” Snowe said. “With the help of this funding, Maine schools and libraries will be able to improve their telecommunications options and better prepare students for the global job market of the 21st century.”

The Gorham Public Library is located on the North Gorham Road.
