The Westbrook American reported on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 1956, that the Gorham Fire Department had nominated Wiley P. Chandler for fire chief and Paul Neal as assistant chief. The selectmen were to consider those nominations after the town meeting in March.
In other news in that issue, Lizzie M. Brackett of Brackett Road had celebrated her 88th birthday the previous week.
