The fundraising dinner scheduled for this Saturday at St. Anthony’s
Parish should be relocated or cancelled. The reason is the scandal
and division that this event is generating.
Representatives Driscoll and Duplessie are hosting this event, and
both have 100 percent pro-abortion voting records in Augusta. The teaching of the Roman Catholic Church is firmly against abortion. Driscoll and Duplessie should not seek favor with Catholic voters while continuing to vote against very reasonable abortion restrictions such as parental notification for underage girls. (House Roll Call 281, 7 June 2005)
Driscoll and Duplessie know that having their name on this event
creates dissention within St. Anthony’s. They could not resist the
attraction of positive PR for themselves. If they truly care most
about charity for the poor, why are their names so prominently
displayed on the flyers sent home in our children’s school bags last
Thursday?
Using a place of worship to polish their image and mislead Catholics
is extremely offensive. Adding further insult is the fact that
Westbrook’s school children were used to carry home the flyers for
this event. Driscoll and Duplessie vote to kill unborn children, then
use the children who do survive the womb to carry their political
propaganda.
How cynical.
