The ninth annual Gorham Marketplace on Saturday was a success even though it competed with a warm spring day outside.

Cindy Hazelton, director of the Gorham Recreation Department, said about 3,000 people attended the event in the field house at the University of Southern Maine. She said the supply of 1,000 plastic tote bags had been handed out by noon.

She said this year’s event marked the most number of vendors and the most new businesses with booths.
