I was first shocked and then saddened when I read the letters from citizens Chaplin and O’Hara regarding the recent Growth & Traffic Committee meeting (American Journal, March 22). Have a different view than that stated by a councilor, administration member, or citizen who comes to the podium? That’s fine. Feel free to write about it, or come and speak at the next meeting. But to sit in front of one’s television, and then write letters which just insult and attack people, is cowardly and does not make a contribution.

As to the matter at hand, before sending mean-spirited diatribe off to the press, those who think this way may want to look into the facts and history of the issue.
