Police arrested a Buxton man after he rammed his wife’s SUV with his pickup truck in Scarborough, according to police.

Sgt. Greg Bedor of the Scarborough Police Department said Arthur Tompson, 39, of Webster Road was arrested by Scarborough police at his home.

Scarborough Police had responded to a call at 4 p.m. on Sunday from a woman who reported that her car was being rammed by her husband at the intersection of Holmes and Broadturn roads in Scarborough.

Bedor said Tompson’s two children were in the SUV. When they arrived two minutes after getting the call, police said Tompson had left and returned home. Police got a statement from his wife.

Several police officers went to Tompson’s home. He was arrested by Officer John Gill of the Scarborough Police Department on charges of driving to endanger, terrorizing, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and three counts of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon – a vehicle.

Bedor said Tompson had refused to come out of his home for a few minutes but then emerged peacefully. He was taken to Cumberland County jail and bail was set at $25,000 cash, according to police.

Scarborough Police received permission to make the arrest in Buxton because Buxton Police had responded to a pharmacy robbery.
