The Westbrook Police Department moved into this building at 4 Carpenter St. shown in the photo at right in 1906 and occupied the building until it was taken by Urban Renewal and demolished in 1977.
The building was originally built as a one-story carriage house at the rear of the Scates Building, which was located on Main Street opposite Bridge Street. In 1942, a second floor was added.
The location of this building is now occupied by a roadway and parking lot near the entrance of the CVS Pharmacy.
