On Sunday at Haverty Field, Westbrook defeated the Bayside Stags by scores of 11-0 and 11-8.

In the first game Shawn McAlpine and Josh Harriman combined on a one hitter. McAlpine, Mike Tanguay and Bryan Crouse each had 2 RBIs. Joe Cook, Mike Anthony and Christian Hamilton each had one RBI. Hamilton was the only repeat hitter with a triple and a single.

The second game was quite a different story.

The young Stags held a 5-3 lead going into the last inning. For the second consecutive weekend, Westbrook rallied.

It started with a walk to Josh Harriman. Mike Haskell followed with a bunt single, but he Bayside pitcher overthrew first base and Harriman proceeded to third. Haskell stole second and Westbrook had the tying runs in scoring position.

Bryan Crouse reached on an error by the center fielder, scoring Harriman and advancing Haskell to third. The next batter, Tanguay, walked loading the bases. He was followed by Hamilton, who lasered a shot to left center to score Haskell and Crouse. This gave Westbrook a 6-5 lead.

Shane Kelly (winning pitcher) reached base on an infield error with Tanguay and Hamilton scoring. Tayler Clouatre lashed a double, plating Kelly. Stephen Lebel hustled to beat out an infield hit with Clouatre advancing to third.

Next, McAlpine drove in Clouatre and Lebel. Eight runs had crossed the plate by the time the third out was recorded.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Stags pushed three runs home before first baseman Eric Anderson scooped a throw from third to end the game. The final was 11-8, Westbrook.

Tayler Clouatre was the lone repeat hitter. Hamilton and McAlpine each had 2 RBIs. Crouse, Tanguay, Kelly and Lebel each had an RBI. On the mound, Hamilton, Kelly and McAlpine split the chore of pitching.

Westbrook now raises its fall record to 5-1, and will play next Sunday Oct. 1, against Greely in a doubleheader. The first game will start at 10 a.m. at the Twin Brooks facility in Cumberland.
