This building at 942 Main St., left photo, was constructed by the Portland Railroad Co. as the Westbrook Trolley Barn, replacing an earlier structure at the location that was destroyed by fire on New Years Eve, 1905. The Portland Railroad Co. closed the barn in 1931 for economic reasons. This photo shows the building as a Cities Service Garage. The Elowitch family acquired the building and operated Yudy’s Tire Co. at this location for many years. Several additions were added as the business expanded. Yudy’s closed several years ago and the building was converted to house several businesses.
