The Gorham Booster Station was built in 1895 by the Gorham Water Co., which was a subsidiary of or a sister company to the Portland Water Co. It’s at the corner of Main Street and Libby Avenue. It was originally steam powered. It was acquired by the Portland Water District when it formed in 1908. It has been in continuous use to supply water to Gorham Village since it was built. Michelle Clements of Portland Water District said its future use might be altered somewhat with planned upgrades in the area.
