A furious fourth quarter rally by the Bonny Eagle girls basketball team produced a 51-49 win over Westbrook on Tuesday evening. The Blazes had a 12-8 lead after one period and a 47-32 lead entering the fourth period before the Scots staged their relentless comeback.

Lyndie Libby of Bonny Eagle was the game’s high scorer with 17. Her teammate Meghan Ledoux also had a good night from the floor scoring 16.

The Blazes had a balanced scoring attack led by Kaylene Godwin’s 13 points. Lauren Sawyer and Audrey Shutts scored 12 points apiece and Cynthia Wescott chipped in with eight.

The Scots improve to 6-2 on the year while the Blazes’ record stands at 4-4 entering this weekend’s games. Bonny Eagle hosts once-beaten Gorham on Thursday evening while Westbrook travels to Windham on Thursday.

Last Friday, Bonny Eagle got by a stubborn group of girls from Windham, 53-48. The Eagles led 16-14 after the first period, but the Scots out-scored Windham 39-32 over the next three quarters to pull out the victory.

Bonny Eagle had 17 points from Lyndie Libby and 11 points each from Ledoux and Kellsey Howes.

Windham had a 17-point night from Ashley Blanchard with Ally Noble scoring nine and Ashley Corkum adding eight.

Gorham downed Westbrook by a 59-42 score last Friday night at Gorham. The Rams led at every juncture in what was a close game when the third period got underway. Gorham’s 42-37 lead quickly became too much to overcome as the Rams used a 17-5 fourth quarter to put the game away.

Cynthia Wescott led the Blazes with 14 points. Shutts added another 12 points and Godwin contributed 10.

Gorham had four players in double figures including Michaud (14), Rachele Burns and Kelsey Wilson (13 each), and Caitlyn Butterfield (10).

Rachele Burns led three Rams in double figures with 14 points. Kelsey Wilson and Caitlyn Butterfield both scored 10. Gorham travels to Bonny Eagle on Thursday evening and they host McAuley on Saturday.
