Westbrook Housing Authority, which provides housing opportunities for the city’s senior and disabled residents for nearly 35 years, is seeking volunteers to assist with clerical duties.
“At a time when state and federal funding for programs is ever more precarious, we find that volunteers make a dramatic difference in our ability to provide needed services,” said Susan Eldridge, deputy director.
All positions, in both the Section 8 Housing Department and Property Management Department, provide flexible hours to accommodate volunteers’ schedules.
Volunteer clerical positions require good organizational skills; the ability to read, write and speak clearly; telephone skills; and, in some cases, basic computer and data-entry experience.
Because of confidentiality issues, residents of Westbrook Housing communities are not eligible.
Interested people should contact Michelle York at 854-6825 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Applications are also available to the Westbrook Housing office at 30 Liza Harmon Drive.
