Two students from South Portland High School and two from Scarborough High School were honored March 16 by the Woman’s Literary Union for their submissions to the organization’s writing contest.
Winners of the contest and their schools are: First place, Rebecca Weidler, Catherine McAuley, second place, Carolyn Conley, South Portland, and third place, Brianna Wing, South Portland. Each read her contribution to members at a luncheon. The topic was “Anticipation.”
Among those winning honorable mentions were Elizabeth McCarthy and Danielle Pellitier-Cairns, Scarborough High School.
Susanne MacArthur, and English teacher at South Portland High School, is director of the writing workshops for the contest students.
