I was very interested in the April 12 American Journal editorial about recycling and the lack of it in Westbrook.
I agree with Mike Miles, “It’s appalling that Westbrook doesn’t have recycling.” When I moved here in 200,5 I was disappointed to find that there is no recycling. Then, this year I found the recycling bins in the parking lot at the Prides Corner Congregational Church and am, happily, making use of them, as it seems, are others.
But, what’s up with the feet dragging by the mayor and others? Once
people set their households up to separate the items to recycle out
of their trash, it’s very simple. Just removing the gallon plastic milk containers from the trash bags makes a big difference.
I think the pay-per-bag would help to motivate everyone, but whatever
way it’s done, it should begin soon.
