The annual Westbrook Kiwanis Invitational Relays will take place Friday, May 4, from 3 to 9:30 p.m. at the Olmsted Track and Field Complex at Westbrook High School.
Thirty teams have been invited from area schools and as many as 20 teams are likely to participate.
This event began in the early 1960s and it is now considered to be the premier relay event in Maine.
The event is co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Westbrook and the Westbrook High School Key Club.
Ribbons are handed out to all participants and T-shirts are presented to all event winners. The top three teams earn trophies for their schools.
In 2006 the winning trophies went to: 1st Place – Thornton Academy; 2nd Place – South Portland High School; 3rd Place – Windham High School.
