The Westbrook boys lacrosse team finished in a tie with Marshwood for the No. 7 seed in the Western Maine Class A standings. The Blazes and the Hawks were both 4-8 and both had the exact same tournament index, which is a Heal Points number used to determine what team had better quality wins than another.

Westbrook and Marshwood were set to play a tiebreaker on Tuesday, June 5, but that game was postponed by rain. So the two squads were scheduled to play again on Wednesday, June 6, in Westbrook. Marshwood played at Westbrook during the regular season and the Hawks walked away with an 11-2 win.

The winner of yesterday’s game plays at No. 2 Portland in a regional quarterfinal.

The same two schools were scheduled to meet in a girls lacrosse quarterfinal. Sixth-seeded Westbrook (7-5) was at No. 3 Marshwood (8-4) on Wednesday, June 6, in a West A regional quarterfinal. The Hawks topped the Blazes by a 13-6 score back on May 21.

The winner will play either No. 5 Bonny Eagle or No. 4 Deering in a regional semifinal on Saturday.

Gorham girls at No. 7

The Gorham girls lacrosse team was scheduled to play at No. 2 Cheverus (9-3) on Wednesday, June 6. The Rams (5-7) and the Stags met back on May 7 when Cheverus outlasted Gorham for a 16-11 victory.

The winner moves on to play either No. 6 Cape Elizabeth or No. 3 Waynflete in a semifinal on Saturday.

Bonny Eagle teams in quarters

The Bonny Eagle boys (6-6) were ranked No. 6 in the West A standings and they were scheduled to face No. 3 Deering (9-3) on Wednesday, June 6, in a regional quarterfinal.

And the Bonny Eagle girls (7-5) were ranked fifth in the West A standings and they were scheduled to take on No. 4 Deering (8-4) on Thursday, June 7, in a regional quarterfinal.
