The 2007 Southwestern Maine Activities Association all-star softball teams were recently released and the names of the league’s individual award winners were also released.
The SMAA Player of the Year was Kelsey Griffin of Scarborough; the Offensive Player of the Year was Jaime Harmon of South Portland; the Co-Defensive Players of the Year were Aimee Mortensen of Biddeford and Rachele Burns of Gorham; the Pitcher of the Year was Kelsey Griffin of Scarborough; the Peter Meagher Award winner was Caitlyn Butterfield of Gorham; and the Coach of the Year was Leon Paquin of Biddeford.
The first team included Rachele Burns of Gorham at shortstop. And the second team included Tammie Arsenault of Gorham (pitcher), Caitlyn Butterfield of Gorham, Cynthia Wescott of Westbrook, and Alyssa Dunn of Bonny Eagle.
Honorable mention selections were Sara Burnheimer of Gorham, Brittany Kietes of Westbrook, and Kaitlin Williams of Bonny Eagle.
The All-academic players included Gorham’s Caitlyn Butterfield, Westbrook’s Katherine Cottrell, and Bonny Eagle’s Alyssa Dunn, Amanda Hooper, Sarah Violette and Kaitlin Williams.
