Libby, Sawyer marriage
Carrie Jennifer Libby and Stephen J. Sawyer were married April 14 at the First Baptist Church in a ceremony officiated by Rev. Linwood Welch.
The bride is the daughter of Bruce and Mary Libby of Westbrook. The groom is the son of Stephen and Judith Sawyer of Warren.
Megan Libby and Christine Iverson were honor attendants. Ashley Franck and Gabrielle Libby, who also was a soloist, were bridesmaids and Madysyn Condon was flower girl.
Shawn Condon was best man and William Verrill and Christopher Sawyer were groomsmen. Cameron Sawyer, the groom’s son, was ring bearer.
The bride graduated from Westbrook High School and Simmons College. She is an emergency room nurse at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
The groom graduated from Medomak Valley High School and the University of Maine at Farmington. He is part owner of Quality Daycare in Warren.
A reception was held at the Doubletree Hotel following the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in Quebec City, Canada, the newlyweds will return to their home in Washington, Maine.
Taliento on UConn dean’s list
Kara Marie Taliento, 96 E. Valentine St., has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn.

City band in concert
The Westbrook City Band will play from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, in a concert at Riverbank Park.
The band launches a free summer series of concerts at the park.
Teens on a mission
Four teenagers from Westbrook will spend a week of their summer vacations to help needy Maine people.
On a mission of the high school Sunday school class at Westbrook First Baptist Church, Britney Doiron, Kayla Doiron, Irena Wroten and Ben Morgan will be volunteering Sunday, July 15, Friday, to July 20, in the Calais-Eastport area. They will help repair homes for elderly and disabled people in addition to other community projects.
“Teens have a lot to give to other people and by helping those in need they are demonstrating that they are the hands and feet of Jesus,” said Reggie Cary, who with his wife, Debbie, leads the youth group.
Christmas in July
Trinity Lutheran Church is sponsoring a Christmas party in July at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, at the gazebo in Riverbank Park. Rain date is July 14.
“The December Christmas season can tend to be a busy time for many and the true meaning of the season can sometimes be lost. We would like to take the time in July to sing and celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ, and invite the community to join us in this special event hosted by Trinity Lutheran church,” said Brenda Orach, chairperson of the church social ministry.
There will be songs, Christmas carols and Rev. Thomas B. Chittick will tell the Christmas story.
