The Westbrook American reported on Aug. 15, 1962, that Cheryl Gordon, 16, of Gorham would serve for the school year on the teen board for Farm Journal magazine, She was one of 100 teenage girls chosen for their leadership in rural activities, including 4-H.

Joseph Pecoraro, an elementary school principal in Westbrook, was named superintendent of District 43. The district included the towns of Richmond, Monmouth, Litchfield and Wales.
