Buxton, Gorham and Westbrook are growing, according to the most recent population estimates on the U.S. Census Bureau Web site.
With figures based on the 2000 census, Buxton’s population had the largest percentage increase of the three communities as of July 1, 2006.
Buxton now has about 8,171 residents, up from 7,452, or a 9.6 percent increase.
Gorham has 15,402, up from 14,141, or an 8.9 percent jump.
Westbrook is at 16,201, up slightly from 16,142, or a 0.3 percent increase.
Westbrook is ranked 13th on a list of Maine’s most populous municipalities. Gorham is 15th and Buxton is 32nd.
Portland topped Maine municipalities with 63,011 people, but that figure is down from 64,249 in the 2000 census.
