I Can’t Hear You Now!

Report a Dead Zone to the Maine Office of the Public Advocate.

Any person who uses a cell phone can attest to the benefits of having a method of communication available to them at all times. But any person who uses a cell phone also knows about the inevitable annoyances cell phones can bring when calls break up, won’t connect, or are dropped. The rate of these call disturbances varies from region to region, and Lakes Region residents may have more trouble connecting than cell phone users in other areas of Maine. This is the case for Raymond resident Kevin MacDonald.

“I have a lot of issues in Raymond. I don’t get (service) at all in my house,” said MacDonald.

As part of Governor Baldacci’s ConnectME Initiative, the Office of Public Advocate has set up an online forum where Maine residents can report “dead spots” where no signal is available. Visit www.maine.gov/meopa/telephone/wireless_reception.html to report it.

Reports are made according to the provider you use. Be sure to have pertinent information on hand, including the phone manufacturer and model number.

The state will use these reports in an effort to effectively improve the scope of wireless phone coverage throughout the state. If you do not have access to the Internet, call 287-2445 to report that pesky spot where you just cannot make a phone call.
