After being struck by lightning early Friday, fire destroyed a storage building in Buxton.

Andy Townsend, acting fire chief, said the 20 by 20-foot structure at 553 Long Plains Road was hit at 1:42 a.m. He said furniture and lumber were stored in the building that was a total loss.

Townsend said it was a single-alarm fire and no one was injured in the blaze.
