A century old at Duck Pond Corner
Highland Lake Congregational Church will observe its 100th anniversary at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, during its regular worships service.
The church is a landmark at 1303 Bridgton Road (Route 302). It’s located near the so-called Duck Pond Corner intersection.
Completed in 1907, the church has held continuous services since. It has been a vital presence in the community. The Rev. Birger Johnson and the Rev. Harold L. Shepard are serving as ministers.
Seniors’ flu shots
Flu shots will be available noon to 12:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.
Then, Westbrook Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. and Ken Fernald will entertain.
Post poker
The American Legion Auxiliary at Post 62, 17 Dunn St., will host “Texas hold’em” poker at noon on Sunday.
The buy in is $50 and the event will have plenty of food. Proceeds will benefit a variety of charities.
Lobster roll reminder
Westbrook Woman’s Club, GFWC/MFWC, annual lobster roll lunch will be on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
Cost is $10 and members will deliver orders, which must be placed by Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 797-9152.
