A police probe is under way and a Buxton man remained in York County Jail Wednesday after being shot by a Cumberland County deputy sheriff in an incident Saturday night in Limington.
Authorities said Peter Ronfeldt, 28, faces a charge of criminal threatening with a firearm. Additional charges might be filed.
Capt. Jeff Davis of Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said Deputy Andrew Feeney responded to a call for assistance about 11:30 p.m. from York County in a domestic dispute involving a father and son. The complainant was Ronfeldt’s father, Alexander Ronfeldt, at 58 River Road, Limington.
Davis said Feeney responded to the incident as a backup for a York County deputy. He said Feeney confronted the son, who, police said, pointed a 12-gauge shotgun at Feeney.
Feeney fired, according to Davis, and Peter Ronfeldt, who was arrested, was transported to Maine Medical Center. A spokeswoman for the hospital said Monday that Ronfeldt had been discharged. No one else was injured in the incident, Davis said.
Davis said the incident is still under investigation.
Feeney has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol, Davis said.
