A fire broke out at CVS on Main Street in Westbrook around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Westbrook Police Chief Gary Littlefield, the fire started in a trash receptacle outside of the building, which heated up the glass windows and entered the building. Littlefield said the sprinkler system contained the fire to the entranceway, causing an estimated $20,000 to $30,000 in damages.
Littlefield said there was a “human element” involved in the fire’s ignition, which is being investigated by the police department. He said it is the fourth fire on Main Street recently that started outside the building.
