Ken Batchelder owned and operated the Town Line Variety Store, at 1557 Bridgton Road, for many years, starting in the 1950s. Batchelder sold the business in the early 1970s, and after a succession of owners, the store closed, left photo. Several other businesses operated in this location over the years, most recently the Wake-n-Bakery, which moved to a larger building at 597 Bridgton Road. Charlie’s Diner, a breakfast and lunch spot, occupies the space now.
