The Wat Samaki Cambodian Buddhist Temple is asking the town of Buxton for permission to hold religious services at 128 Back Nippen Road in a building that previously housed Buxton Press, a small printing company.

Public comment will be heard at a Buxton Planning Board meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday in town hall, 185 Portland Road.

The building is attached to a house. Jean Harmon, chairwoman of Buxton selectman and a resident of Back Nippen Road, said her concern is safety.

“It’s a residential neighborhood,” Harmon said last week.

Buxton Code Officer Fred Farnham said the town wants to make sure the site has adequate parking and septic system, along with state fire marshal approval. Farnham believed capacity at the building, based on square footage, would allow 163 people.
