Dennis Fogg, a South Portland business owner and comedian, will perform at “An Afternoon of Comedy,” Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m., at South Portland High School auditorium.

Fogg will be joined by fellow comics Tammy Pooler and Bo, along with Chuck Igo, master of ceremonies, for an afternoon of laughs to benefit the South Portland Historical Society. The local band Box O Crackers will also perform.

Fogg is the owner of Uncle Andy’s Cafe, where he often entertains his customers with his funny take on local events. He performs at the Comedy Connection in Portland, among other venues.

Box O Crackers is Irish folk band whose membership consists of several South Portland firefighters, including guitar player Jason Perry (Engine 8), lead singer David Finitsis (Engine 5) and Tom Haskell (retired captain) on banjo. Also in the band is Anne Murray (a Portland teacher) on mandolin/accordion.

The South Portland Historical Society is currently raising funds for the purchase of the Cushing’s Point House next to Bug Light Park. This historic two-story brick building will become the permanent home of the society, where it will open a South Portland historical museum on the grounds of the former South Portland shipyards of World War II.

The event is open to the public and is sponsored jointly by the high school’s Key Club and Interact Group. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Tickets are available at Hannaford supermarket in Mill Creek, Uncle Andy’s Cafa or J.P. Thornton’s.
