The building in the left photo was located at 23 Bridge St., and at one time was a popular restaurant and dance hall. Sammy Porello operated the business for many years as the Army & Navy Bar, Porello’s and Sammy’s Bar & Grill. Porello retired and sold the business in the 1960s. The business changed owners several times and operated under such names as Stubby’s and the Bridge Bar. The building was demolished in the 1970s and the site is currently occupied by a platform that overlooks the river.
