The nominees for 2008 Teacher of the Year in Westbrook were scheduled to be honored at a reception on Wednesday, after the American Journal’s deadline.

They are Kim Walls, Prides Corner School; Jennifer Curtis, Saccarappa School; Jean Shorey, Canal School; Gloria Noyes, Congin School; Travis McCutcheon, Wescott Junior High School; Chris Conroy, Westbrook High School; and Darlene Bruns, Westbrook Regional Vocational Center.

In addition, Noyes is one of nine teachers in the state vying for the 2009 Maine Teacher of the Year award. Those nominees are being honored at the State House on Friday. Noyes will undergo an intensive selection process consisting of a school visit, a professional portfolio review, an oral presentation and final interviews. The winner will be announced at a surprise all-school assembly in September.
