Names of candidates appearing on the state ballot in the primary election on Tuesday, June 10, are set except for one candidate, who could run with a different name.
The deadline was March 17 for candidates seeking state seats to file with the Maine secretary of state. Melissa Packard, director of elections at the secretary of state’s office said the primary ballots are going to the printers about April 1.
A Republican in the primary election, Gorham Town Councilor Jane S. Willett, might have a different name from the one she filed under on March 13. Willett, who wants to challenge Rep. Chris Barstow, D-Gorham for the District 129 seat, has petitioned Cumberland County Probate Court for a name change because of a divorce process.
Willett is requesting a name change to Jane Stinchfield Knapp and a court hearing date has been set for Wednesday, April 2, according to a court clerk.
