The stately old mansion in the left photo once stood at 730 Main St., at the corner of Stroudwater Street. Dr. Jacob L. Horr occupied this building from 1873 until his death in December 1916. Horr served as an alderman in 1899 and as mayor from 1900-1901. In later years, Mayor William B. Bragdon (1919) occupied this house. The house was demolished in the 1950s to make way for an Esso Gasoline and Service Station. The site is presently occupied by a Cumberland Farms Store.
