The Hannaford supermarket in Westbrook has reopened after closing this morning because of a threat called in to the store.

Mike Norton, communications manager for Hannaford supermarkets, said the threat was not serious, but that the store managers felt it was best to be cautious.

“It was, fortunately, a threat that they determined to be unfounded, and they let people return to the store after less than an hour,” said Norton.

According to police, a after an angry customer called the deli shortly before 10 a.m. and said the store owed him money. He said the store would “blow up” in the afternoon.
